Elizabeth Broderick was appointed Sex Discrimination Commissioner and Commissioner for Age Discrimination in 2007. In 2002, she was named Telstra NSW Business Woman of the Year and Australia Corporate Business Woman of the Year, in recognition of her various corporate successes. As Commissioner, Elizabeth Broderick has engaged in thorough consultations across the country, to give voice to the gender and age specific challenges facing Australians. Elizabeth Broderick addressed The Sydney Institute on Tuesday 15 September 2009, and spoke of the structural and institutional settings behind the economic disadvantage for women throughout their lives.
