Ita Buttrose AO, OBE, the founding editor of Cleo magazine, began her long career in journalism at the age of 15. In 1975, Ita Buttrose moved on the edit The Australian Women’s Weekly, and in 1981 was made Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph by Rupert Murdoch. As such, Buttrose became the first woman to edit a major metropolitan daily in Australia. Ita Buttrose has written nine books, the most recent A Guide to Australian Etiquette. On Wednesday 11 May 2011, Ita Buttrose addressed The Sydney Institute to talk about Australians, both those she has known and not, and their bad behaviour.
