The Hon Greg Combet is the Minister for Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science and the Minister assisting the Minister on Climate Change. From 1999 to 2007 he was leader of the Australian Council of Trade Unions. Following the release of the Rudd Government’s Defence White Paper, Greg Combet addressed The Sydney Institute on Wednesday 4 November 2009 on the Defence plan to significantly upgrade Australia’s naval capabilities with the purchase of twelve new submarines.[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
