In her book, Muslim Women Reformers: Inspiring Voices Against Oppression, Dr Ida Lichter gives voice to the courageous, and often overlooked, women reformers of the Muslim world. They speak out with passion, humanity and even humour, bringing alive the harsh realities of Muslim law for women. Ida Lichter, a practising psychiatrist, joined with Daniel Pipes to address The Sydney Institute on Thursday 5 November 2009, where she reflected on the opportunities and obstacles faced by Muslim women reformers in the twenty-first century.
