David Gruen is the Executive Director of the Macroeconomic Group at the Australian Treasury. David Gruen moved to the Treasury from the Economic Analysis and Economic Research Departments at the Reserve Bank of Australia. With financial support from a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship, David was visiting lecturer in the Economics Department and the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University from August 1991 to June 1993. On Tuesday 16 June 2009, David Gruen addressed The Sydney Institute to analyse the proximate and systemic causes of the global financial crisis, and to explain why Australia has weathered the crisis relatively unscathed.
