Robert Milliken addressed The Sydney Institute on Tuesday 26 October 2010. Milliken is a Sydney based journalist and the author of Mother of Rock: the Lillian Roxon Story (Black Inc, 2002; revised edition 2010). The story of Lillian Roxon may have been lost to Australians but for Milliken’s work. The author of Lillian Roxon’s Rock Encyclopedia, Roxon was loved and remembered by a host of rock music legends and counterculture personalities around the world. Lillian Roxon grew up in Brisbane with émigré parents. Her life has now inspired the film documentary Mother of Rock: the life and times of Lillian Roxon – shown at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2010 and also on SBS TV in early 2011.
