Yuli Ismartono, executive editor of Tempo magazine and a well known professional in the fields of public affairs and journalism, visited Australia as part of a five member delegation of Indonesian citizens to talk about democratic reforms gained since Suharto. Her main message was that Indonesia is very serious about institutuing democratic change although there is still much reform needed in the justice system. Her comments took on added meaning following the successful outcome of the 2004 Indonesian presidential election. Yuil Ismartono addressed The Sydney Institute on Monday 30 August 2004.
